Qual a diferença entre Other, Others e Another?

Olá, pessoal!

Muitos alunos me perguntam qual a diferença entre other, others e another. Então, vamos esclarecer:

Other

Significa "outro", "outros", "outra" e "outras".

“Other” pode vir acompanhado do artigo “the” ou não.

Exemplo:

- These pink flowers are beautiful. The other red flowers are ugly.

(Estas flores rosas são bonitas. As outras flores vermelhas são feias).

Others

Significa “outros” e “outras”.

O "others" é utilizado para não repetir palavras que já foram ditas/escritas. Pode vir precedido do artigo “the” ou não.

Exemplo: - These candies are very sweet. The others are delicious. (Estas balas são muito doces. As outras são deliciosas).

Another

Significa “um(a) outro(a)”

Exemplo: - I will go to another room. This room is very dirty. (Eu irei para um outro quarto. Este quarto está muito sujo).
